The Concept

We were delighted to be commissioned to create the Columbus Monte Carlo hotel's very first kids' club

The Planning

Planning such a concept takes a lot of time, and there were many discussions between us and the hotel's marketing team. The idea was to offer a really fun kids' club during the summer months, a place where children could have fun, play and eat, so that parents could relax!

The key element was to create a kids' club that was not filled with plastic toys, creating a much more aesthetically pleasing play area for children that would fit in with the Columbus's surroundings - the beautiful sea! A large hotel suite was to be transformed into this space, with a balcony transformed into an outdoor play area... complete with beach toys to reinforce the seaside theme. Les Petits offers only premium sustainable brands and also provides an interior design service, so the combination was perfect!
The main backdrop of the space is a beautiful Munks & Me Under the Sea mural. As we couldn't wallpaper the whole room, we had to get creative.
All the toys and décor were chosen to complement the colours of the wall mural - fresh navy blue, aquamarine and turquoise tones were mixed with splashes of sand and, of course, a few sparkling accessories.
A huge baby rug Toddlekind Modular Nordic Clay was chosen as the floor play area - a beautiful, non-toxic play mat that, above all, does not look like a play mat.
Once the key elements have been chosen, the fun begins with the toys and décor.

The Installation

The room was installed a few weeks before the kids' club launch.
First, there was the Under the Sea wall mural. Munks & Me murals come in panels labelled A-E, making them much easier to hang and install.
Once they had been installed, we were able to install the Toddlekind play mat. It comes in squares and is modular, meaning you can add or remove pieces as much as you like to create a play mat that fits your space exactly!
Next comes Kid's Concept's Tipi Tent, followed by the sea-themed soft toys from Meri Meri. Who wouldn't love to see Cosmo the Giant Octopus hiding in his tipi tent or Louie the Turtle playing on his Wobbel board?

Play Zones

The key to fun and constructive play for children is to create dedicated "play zones" in a playroom.

As part of the kids' club, we created distinct areas: an Active Play area, with a Ball Pit, a Rocking Horse and a Wobbel Balance Board.

We then created a reading and relaxation area, ideal for children who want to unwind.

A role-play area with Kid's Concept's Wooden Kitchen, Miniland's Educational Dolls and Kid's Concept's Pram.

Outdoor Area

We made sure to include a nod to the Monte-Carlo Grand Prix by including Way to Play Toys' Grand Prix Flexible Car Track. Candylab cars - wooden cars with a very kitsch vintage Americana style - are perfect for racing on the track.

As it was summer and the theme was the sea, we had to create a beach area on the outdoor balcony. It is amazing how much a small space can be transformed by adding artificial grass and decorative seaweed.

Liewood's beach toys created the perfect atmosphere, with the Blue Striped Inflatable Pool filled with sand - essential for building sandcastles with the Liewood Sea Creature Beach Set. You will also find beach games, including the Ring Toss Game and the Wooden Mini Golf Set.

Dress-Up Costumes

No playroom or kids' club is complete without a Dress-Up area!
Would you like to become a superhero for the day with the Meri Meri Superhero Set, or would you rather swim under the sea with the Meri Meri Mermaid Costume or Shark Costume?
Wings - fairy wings or dragon wings? They are perfect for children who want to transform quickly. We love Fabelab's Dragon Wings and Mimi & Lula's Glitter Fairy Wings.
